House Subcommittee Chairman Calls for New LNG Safety Law

The Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), told a maritime security conference yesterday that a GAO report on LNG terminal security highlighted the need for new uniform safety measures. According to Marine Log, Cummings introduced legislation that would prohibit approval of any LNG terminal anywhere in the country until the Coast Guard has additional security capability.
