Oregon Governor Encourages LNG Project Developers to Expand Public Outreach Efforts

Yesterday the Hillsboro Argus (Ore.) released a letter from Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski (D) to the companies backing LNG proposals in western Oregon which encourage project developers to expand their public outreach efforts. In particular, Gov. Kulongoski cited reports of meetings being insufficiently noticed, last-minute time changes, and accusations of trespassing on private property by company representatives. Gov. Kulongoski noted, however, that he would withhold final judgment on particular LNG projects until the relevant environmental reviews are complete, saying that “if new pipelines are going to be sited in Oregon, I want it to be done in the most inclusive and least confrontational manner possible.”
