LNG Opponents Skeptical of Approval Process for Bradwood Landing LNG

According to the Daily Astorian (Astoria, Ore.), several Clatsop County Commissioners expressed skepticism regarding whether or not NorthernStar Natural Gas, the developer of Bradwood Landing LNG, will ultimately have to meet any conditions the county sets for approval of the project’s land use application. Citing testimony from Oregon LNG, a competing LNG regasification proposal, County Commissioner Patricia Roberts told NorthernStar representatives, “You come and make these promises to us and ask us for conditions of approval. Now I’m faced with the realization that when (the conditions) get to FERC, you could say they’re too burdensome and (the conditions) could be dismissed.” NorthernStar president Paul Soanes responded that his company is “not looking to usurp this board.”
