Weaver’s Cove Energy Plans to Appeal Coast Guard Decision

Following the U.S. Coast Guard’s decision that Weaver’s Cove Energy’s proposed vessel transit route is “unsuitable” for LNG tanker traffic, the Providence Journal reports that the company plans to appeal. A statement released by Weaver’s Cove claims that the “decision disregards critical facts in the record” and “lacks the necessary factual support.”

Separately, the Fall River Herald News (Mass.) reports that several local politicians are encouraging Weaver’s Cove Energy to withdraw the project, including the city mayor, city council members, and several congressional representatives.
