NATS: U.S. Gas Prices Lag as LNG Cargos Find European Destinations

NATS LNG Week in Review reports that as gas prices in the United States continue to lag behind European prices, LNG spot cargos are trending more and more toward European destinations. NATS suggests that one possible reason for the large price differential is that European gas prices are closely linked to oil prices due to the long term contract positions held by Gazprom. As oil prices continue to rise, so too will gas prices. However, NATS also notes that unusually cold weather in Europe or North America could shift the market dramatically. [Subscription required]
