WestPac LNG Announces New LNG Terminal Proposal

WestPac LNG Corporation announced yesterday a $2-billion LNG regasification terminal and power plant project for Texada Island, British Columbia. The company also announced that, due to the rising costs of construction materials, it will place plans to develop an LNG terminal in Prince Rupert B.C. on hold. WestPac did indicate, however, that the plan could be revisited in the future. Pending the Canadian regulatory approval process, the Texada Island facility could come online as soon as 2013. The Globe and Mail (Canada) has further coverage.
