Salt Cavern Storage Facility for Regasified LNG Proposed in Eastern Canada

Alton Natural Gas Storage filed an environmental assessment with the Nova Scotia Environment and Labour Department last Friday for a salt cavern storage facility to be located near the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline. Explaining the growing need for such storage facilities, one analyst told Platts LNG Daily, “[s]toring LNG in an LNG terminal is very expensive. You really want to regasify and get it into the system as soon as you can to recover that value.” [Subscription required]
