Cabrillo Port Fails California Coastal Commission Review

In a unanimous vote, the California Coastal Commission yesterday found that the Cabrillo Port LNG proposal failed to meet coastal protection standards. The Commission’s decision cited air pollution as well as the potential harm to marine mammals, ocean views, and birds. The Los Angeles Times reports that on Wednesday BHP Billiton requested cancellation of the hearing, but a U.S. Coast Guard hearing  held earlier this month automatically required California to finalize its review process. [Free registration required]
