Quoddy Bay Asks FERC to Deny Canada Access to U.S. Gas Market

Quoddy Bay LNG has asked FERC to condition the certificates previously granted to Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline authorizing the expansion of its pipeline to accommodate gas from the Canaport LNG terminal in New Brunswick. The terminal developer wants the Commission to deny entry of Canadian gas into the U.S. Northeast market until Canada allows unrestricted transit of LNG vessels through Canadian waters to Quoddy Bay’s proposed LNG terminal in Maine. The March 23 filing may be found in the FERC e-Library in Docket No. CP06-335-002. The Bangor Daily News provides additional coverage.
