Downeast, Robbinston Agree on Compensation for Impacts from Proposed Terminal

Downeast LNG and the town of Robbinston, Maine, have entered into a Host Community Benefits Agreement that will compensate the town in exchange for the town’s support of the proposed LNG terminal. Under the terms of the agreement, Downeast will establish a community development fund with an annual contribution of up to $1.2 million after terminal operations commence. Downeast also will reimburse the town for the cost of additional emergency, fire, and security services necessitated by terminal operations. Robbinston business owners will receive financial compensation for losses resulting from terminal operations, as will certain residential property owners.
