New Brunswick Officials Oppose LNG Vessels in Canadian Waters

According to Wayne Steeves, a minority-party member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, armed escorts accompanying LNG vessels en route to the proposed import terminals in Maine may endanger New Brunswickers and disrupt the fishing industry. The province’s finance minister accused Steeves’ party of inciting fear, but said that the Liberal Party, which is currently in rule, remains opposed to LNG tankers transiting through Head Harbour Passage.
