Export License Extension Pursued for Alaskan LNG Facility

ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil Corp. on Friday applied with the U.S. Dept. of Energy for a two-year license extension that would allow the companies to continue to export LNG to Asian markets from their facility in Kenai, Alaska. The current license expires in 2009. According to Alaska Report, local utilities or governments may oppose the extension, arguing that Cook Inlet gas should remain in the state for Alaskan consumers.
