Opposing Views Regarding Need for Proposed Broadwater Terminal Featured
The Hartford Courant features two contrasting views regarding the need for the proposed Broadwater LNG terminal. According to the former chairman of the Connecticut Siting Council, the import facility would facilitate an increase in natural gas supply that could efficiently and cleanly fuel power plants better than oil can. However, the program director with the Connecticut Fund for the Environment cites a study by Synapse Energy Economics, which says that the state’s existing natural gas supply and investment in energy efficiency and alternative energy sources would obviate the need for the terminal.
