NorthernStar Proposes Salmon Recovery Initiative

The Daily Astorian reports on NorthernStar Natural Gas’ proposed measures to mitigate the potential harm that its proposed Bradwood Landing LNG terminal may have on the endangered salmon population in the Columbia River. The proposal includes introducing new technology to prevent entraining marine life during water intake by LNG tankers.  According to the newspaper, the proposed enhancement initiative has received measured support from tribes, legislators and fish and wildlife groups, but one environmentalist says that the potential benefits of the enhancement initiative may take decades to materialize and that “the endangered salmon of the Columbia Basin don’t have decades to wait.”
