Jamaica Considers LNG Deal With Trinidad and Tobago

The Jamaica Gleaner  reports that Jamaica is expressing interest in an agreement with Trinidad and Tobago by which Jamaica would supply Trinidad with alumina for Trinidad’s proposed aluminum smelter in exchange for a 10% share in the smelter facility and LNG delivered to Jamaica. However, Trinidad has signaled that recent developments in its exploration and production of natural gas may hamper any efforts to undertake new LNG supply obligations with Jamaica, despite Jamaica’s stated plans to increase LNG imports.
