Mexico Announces Long-Term LNG Development Plan

Platts LNG Daily reports on Mexico’s three-phase LNG development plan. According to Juan Granados-Zuniga, a project manager with the Comision Federal de Electricidad, the plan is designed to help increase the supply of natural gas necessary to keep pace with demand and to reduce supply costs by purchasing LNG at prices that are not tied to U. S. indices. By the end of the third phase, Mexico hopes to have expanded its participation in the LNG value chain in the areas of upstream gas production, liquefaction, and the importation of LNG, Granados-Zuniga noted.
