Local Officials Question Security at KeySpan Storage Facility

Revere City Councilor John Correggio is calling on KeySpan Corp. to implement more stringent security measures at its LNG storage facility in Lynn, Mass., after he found an unlocked gate and took photographs of himself in front of a tank last week. According to The Boston Herald, he and another Revere City Councilor, George Rotondo, tested the facility’s security after surveillance cameras caught two intruders climbing atop a tank on Aug. 16. In response to the councilor’s photos, a KeySpan spokesperson said that Correggio could not have reached the tanks: “Between the offending gate and our property are two security fences, motion detectors and security cameras.”

The Daily Item reports that KeySpan officials are slated to meet with the Lynn City Council tonight to discuss security measures at the facility.
