Judge Says BIA Mishandled Passamaquoddy Tribe’s Document Requests

Federal Judge John Woodcock admonished the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs for improperly withholding documents requested by opponents of the Quoddy Bay LNG terminal. Woodcock’s remarks came during a hearing on BIA’s motions to dismiss three lawsuits filed by Passamaquoddy Tribe members who oppose the LNG project; although Woodcock did not issue a ruling at Friday’s hearing, The Bangor Daily News predicts that Woodcock will grant summary judgment for the government on one of the three suits because plaintiffs now have all the documents at issue.
