Kelliher: Storage Facilities May Reach Capacity by August; Additional Storage Infrastructure Needed

Gas storage facilities may reach maximum capacity by late August, two months earlier than expected, if imports of LNG continue to rise during the summer months, FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher said yesterday at the Platts Energy Podium in Washington, D.C. Kelliher encouraged the construction of additional natural gas storage infrastructure as a means of mitigating the impacts of early storage, noting that U.S. storage capacity has only increased by about 1.4% since 1988.
