The Ventura County Star features letters from three readers on LNG development proposed for California. One resident opposes the proposed importation of LNG due to potential safety risks. However, another reader notes that that LNG is hazardous “only under very minimal circumstances” and concludes that that the benefits of imported LNG, such as cost-efficient transportation and storage and lower natural gas costs for consumers, outweigh potential safety risks. A third resident challenges the assertion that there is a looming shortfall of natural gas, citing a Ventura County Star article that says, “there’s enough natural gas to last beyond 65 years.” [Free registration necessary]
