Newsday reports on local legislation proposed by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy seeking to ban the Broadwater LNG project and arguing that various statues give Suffolk County jurisdiction over Long Island Sound. “Why should a plant that is on land be bound by local requirements and a few miles offshore is not?” said Levy. However, Broadwater senior vice president and project manager John Hritcko, Jr. says the bill is a “gimmick” that will “stifle discussion” of the project’s merits.
