FERC Approves New LNG Infrastructure

FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher today announced the authorization of the Crown Landing, Port Arthur, and Creole Trail LNG terminal proposals, as well as the Sabine Pass and Cove Point expansion projects, provided that mitigation recommendations are followed. The Commission noted that these projects will bring supply to the Gulf Coast and to several underserved markets. “Altogether these orders almost triple the existing U.S. LNG import capacity,” Kelliher said at today’s Commission meeting. He also emphasized FERC’s role in ensuring that all LNG facilities meet stringent safety standards. Kelliher’s statement is here.
