Legislation Limiting LNG Terminal Siting Proposed for Baltimore County

Baltimore County Council members John Olszewski Sr. and Vince Gardina have introduced legislation seeking to limit the construction of LNG facilities to specific heavy manufacturing zones. The bill, which would also prohibit the placement of LNG facilities less than five miles away from residential areas and 500 feet from business or manufacturing zones, is in response to AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal in Baltimore County. The Council plans to discuss the bill on June 13 and expects to issue a decision on June 19. Read more in The Northeast Booster.
