Fourth LNG Terminal Proposed for Maine

The Bangor Daily News reports that Tidewalker Associates proposes to build a tidal power plant augmented by a 0.5 Bcf/d LNG terminal. Project developer Normand Laberge has identified a site in Little Machias Bay, Maine, adjacent to the Navy communications facility where he works. The Navy facility is one possible customer for the electricity to be generated by the project; the terminal might also connect to the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline. Laberge sits on the citizen advisory panel organized by the Quoddy Bay LNG terminal proposed for Pleasant Point, but Quoddy Bay reportedly is not affiliated with the new proposal.
