FERC Commissioner Says Rising Natural Gas Demand Will Support Planned LNG Infrastructure

Due to an expected increase in natural gas consumption and sufficiently high prices to support infrastructure projects, FERC Commissioner Nora Meade Brownell said “there’s room for both” an Alaska gas pipeline and additional LNG import terminals capable of serving the U.S. mainland. However, “there’s no way” all the facilities proposed for the United States will be built because there will not be enough imported LNG to keep them running, Brownell said at yesterday’s Reuters Global Energy Summit in New York.
