Tidelands Subsidiary Considers Offshore California LNG Terminal

A subsidiary of Tidelands Oil & Gas Corp., Esperanza Energy, announced that it is studying the feasibility of siting an LNG terminal off the coast of Long Beach, Calif. “Our goal is to develop an LNG import terminal that can play an important role in meeting California’s growing energy needs by providing competitively priced natural gas to supplement that which is currently transported into the state by long-distance pipelines,” Esperanza Energy President Michael Ward said. Esperanza Energy has enlisted David Maul, the former manager of the California Energy Commission’s Natural Gas Office, to participate in its evaluation. Parent company Tidelands has proposed another LNG terminal in the Gulf of Mexico. Esperanza’s press release is carried via PRNewswire.
