Petro-Canada and Gazprom Sign Engineering Agreement

The National Post today reports that Petro-Canada and Gazprom have inked an agreement to start preliminary engineering work on a liquefaction facility in St. Petersburg, Russia. The joint venture furthers plans to import LNG to a proposed regasification facility in Gros Cacouna, Quebec. “The supply assurance is certainly an important part of any of these [regasification] projects,” said Ron Brenneman, Petro-Canada’s chief executive officer.
