HB 1325 Passes Georgia House

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution today reports that the Georgia House approved HB 1325 by a vote of 110-59. If passed by the Senate, the bill would streamline the regulatory process for new pipelines and, in particular, could increase deliveries from Elba Island to Georgia consumers. The bill could help Atlanta Gas Light build a pipeline that would compete with Southern Natural Gas’ planned Elba Express Pipeline. Proponents of the bill say that consumers will eventually see lower gas prices as a result. However, one opponent of the bill, Rep. Nan Orrock (D-Atlanta) said, “The voters don’t want to hear we are doing more special-interest legislation.” [Free registration necessary]
