Broadwater Officials Discuss LNG Project at Property Owners’ Meeting

Broadwater Energy representatives presented a bleak energy outlook to attendees at a meeting held by the Madison Property Owner’s Association, speculating that natural gas shortages will occur by 2010 or 2011. “We need to meet high natural gas demand because it is the cleanest burning fuel,” said Broadwater’s Gary Hale. “Employers are not staying in the Connecticut area because of the high cost of energy. The Connecticut energy cost determines job creations and growth, and keeping our young people in Connecticut.” Conn. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who was also present at the meeting, acknowledged the need to meet growing consumer demands, but said that “there are more effective and less damaging ways to meet our needs.” Read more in yesterday’s Shore Line Times.
