Broadwater LNG Opponents Attend Forum

Opposition to the Broadwater LNG proposal has spread to southeastern Connecticut. Approximately 75 residents and activists attended a forum at New London High School on Saturday to learn more about Broadwater’s plan to build a regasification facility in the Long Island Sound. “This is a poster child for what not to do in Long Island Sound,” Conn. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said. “No one will protect the Sound if we don’t.” In addition to Blumenthal, speakers included Coast Guard Capt. Boynton, state lawmakers and a panel of activists. Panel moderator Geoff Kaufman of New London Earth Day sang a Broadwater protest song  with folksinger Tom Callinan. The Day has the report.
