Environmental Organizations Criticize “Open-Loop” System

Environmental groups again have raised objections to Shell’s proposed Gulf Landing terminal in which an “open-loop” system takes warm water from the Gulf of Mexico, reheats LNG to its gaseous state and then returns the cold water to the Gulf. Activists say this method threatens marine life by sucking in small organisms and returning the frigid water to the Gulf. Read more in The Advocate.
