Coast Guard to Assess Quoddy Bay for LNG Shipments

The U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday said in a press release that it will examine safety and security matters pertaining to Quoddy Bay’s LNG initiative in Pleasant Point, Maine. “We plan to work very closely with local officials, our Port Safety Forum, and the Area Maritime Security Committee in evaluating this proposal,” the area’s Coast Guard captain said. “We will also be looking for comments from the general public in the U.S. and Canada to ensure we will have considered the full range of issues associated with moving LNG tankers from the Bay of Fundy to Passamaquoddy Bay.”
