Weaver’s Cove Files 2nd Supplemental DEIR
On November 2, Weaver’s Cove informed FERC that it filed its Second Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Report (SSDEIR) with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA). The EOEA previously had found Weaver’s Cove Draft EIR and Supplemental Draft EIR to be incomplete. Most importantly, based on an Army Corps of Engineers finding that dredge material is suitable for unrestricted ocean disposal at the recently designated Rhode Island Sound Disposal Site, Weaver’s Cove is now in the process of pursuing the alternative of offshore ocean disposal of over 95% of the dredged material, which it believes will help the project avoid the concerns expressed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection with regard to the upland placement of stabilized dredge material.
