Rep. Frank Says Hess LNG Is Distorting the U.S. Constitution

Hess LNG said in a letter to Secretary Stephen Pritchard of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office that a provision outlawing the use of federal capital to tear down the old Brightman Street Bridge is constitutionally “flawed”. U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., alleged in a letter to Prichard on Wednesday that Hess’ allegation is a distortion of the U.S. Constitution and “an example of the shoddy logic, intellectual dishonesty and disregard for inconvenient facts that has marked so much of Hess’ presentation.” The proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG project hinges on the demolition of the bridge because there is insufficient clearance for the tankers to pass. Details are in today’s Herald News.
