Kelliher Comments on LNG Supply, Prices

In his address to the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., yesterday, FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher said that “we cannot make up the loss of domestic production through imports.” He noted that despite “contested proceedings” surrounding U.S. regas terminals, the true constraint on LNG supply is the lack of liquefaction capacity. As supply remains tight after the hurricanes, Kelliher stated that FERC will monitor natural gas prices this winter to prevent and penalize market manipulation. Details are in yesterday’s NGI’s Daily Price Index. [Subscription required]
