British Energy Commission May Rescind Grain LNG Facility’s Capacity Holder Exemption

Companies such as BP and Sonatrach may no longer enjoy guaranteed access to the Isle of Grain LNG terminal in England, according to a Nov. 25 letter written by Ofgem, the British energy regulator. The letter says that Grain LNG failed to address Ofgem’s concerns regarding the implementation of “anti-hoarding measures and publish sufficient relevant information in order to ensure that capacity is not hoarded.” The letter also threatens to review and revoke the exemption order that gives both companies the advantage of not competing with other potential users for capacity.
