Bloomberg reports that “Europe is set to be the key destination” for U.S. LNG supplies. Per Wood Mackenzie analysts’ predictions, 55% of U.S. LNG exports will go to Europe by 2020 due to the disappearance of the large spread between European and Asian LNG prices and Europe’s proximity to U.S. LNG export terminals.

The Daily Astorian reports that Oregon LNG has refiled a lawsuit in U.S. District Court which claims that the Army Corps of Engineers has abandoned its easement rights to land on which Oregon LNG wants to build its LNG export terminal in Warrenton, Ore. According to the press release, the suit was refiled to permit Oregon LNG to “maintain its legal options” and is “responsive to the Findings and Recommendations by Magistrate Judge John V. Acosta in Oregon LNG’s earlier filing, which was withdrawn.” ...

Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. announced today that it expects to export the first LNG commissioning cargo from its Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, La. in late February or March 2016. Reuters reports that Lithuania’s state energy company has postponed plans to import LNG from the United States because the LNG is too “calorific” and does not meet the specifications needed for the country’s gas distribution system, which was designed to use Russian gas. According to the report, Lithuanian company LITGAS has been negotiating for LNG deliveries from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, which is due to begin LNG exports soon. Law360 reports that in the court appeal of FERC’s orders approving the Corpus Christi LNG export terminal, FERC stands by its policy that, in its environmental review of Corpus Christi LNG’s export project application, FERC was not required to consider the environmental effects of potential increased gas production caused by the project. FERC issued a notice of its intent to release its environmental assessment for the Cameron LNG export terminal expansion project (Project) on February 12, 2016. Other federal agencies having jurisdiction over the Project would have until May 12, 2016 to complete their review.
