Critics Concerned about Petro-Canada’s Supply Deal with Gazprom
Petro-Canada’s relationship with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has raised concern among critics, who say that Gazprom’s interest in sending Shtokman gas to European markets instead of North America could create supply problems for the proposed St. Petersburg liquefaction facility, as well as the Cacouna Energy import terminal in Quebec. However, a spokesperson for Petro-Canada told The Globe and Mail that supply for the liquefaction facility would originate in the Baltic region rather than at the Shtokman reserve.
