It is unclear when Australian LNG will reach U.S. markets, according to FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher and DOE Deputy Secretary James Slutz, who attended the APGas conference in Perth yesterday. Kelliher noted that several spot cargos from Australia have already been delivered to the U.S. Gulf Coast, but he expects future shipments to reach the U.S. via an LNG terminal in Baja California, Mexico. In apparent agreement, Slutz said, ”We don’t look at it as a bad thing if the gas comes in from Mexico.” The Australian, available through LexisNexis, has the details. [Subscription required]
