Plans for Mexican LNG Terminal Remain Undecided

Chevron Mexico President Carlos Atallah says the company has not yet decided the fate of its offshore Coronado Islands LNG terminal. The proposed terminal, located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, would serve Mexican markets and potentially the U.S. as well. Denying reports that the project had been abandoned, Atallah remarked, ” It’s not off, it’s simply delayed.” He added, “There’s a lot of negotiation going on. It’s really to early to tell at this time (when the decision could be made).” Attalah said that the delay is due in part to the need to “synchronize” with supply from the Gorgon gas field in Australia. A Reuters article, carried via LexisNexis, has the details.
