A proposal to bring a retired aircraft carrier to Sparrows Point, Md. to develop tourism has fallen through, according to The Baltimore Examiner. The Navy instead plans to sink the USS Forrestal, which will serve as an artificial reef for fish. Opponents of AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal believed that the ship could potentially draw tourists and revitalize the area where the terminal would be located.
