The Nezavisimaya Gazeta (carried via Red Orbit) offers details of Gazprom and other Russian companies’ efforts to increase their collective presence in the U.S. energy market. The article specifically notes that LNG imports to the United States from the Russian Shtokman project, coupled with agreements on energy issues between Russia and other countries, strengthen Russia’s global political position.
