Heater Malfunctions at Mass. LNG Storage Facility

WGGB News reports that a heater seriously malfunctioned at an LNG storage facility owned by Bay State Gas. A company spokesperson said that a heating unit exploded and caught fire on Saturday morning. Gas flow to the heater was halted to prevent spread of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished once firefighters arrived on the scene and no injuries were reported.

Cove Point LNG Submits Noise Survey Results to FERC

Cove Point LNG has completed a study of noise created by its LNG terminal and submitted its findings to FERC. The report is available in the eLibrary under Docket No. CP05-130.

Construction on Gulf LNG Terminal Expected to Finish by Late 2011

According to a representative for El Paso Corp., construction on the Gulf LNG import terminal is expected to be complete by the end of 2011. The El Paso spokesperson told the Mississippi Press that the exterior concrete for the storage tanks, sea wall and pile driving are complete.
