CLNG Says Senate LNG Bill to Repeal Part of EPACT 2005 May Limit States’ Involvement in LNG Siting Process
Center for LNG President Bill Cooper told Platts LNG Daily [subscription required] that a bill proposed in the U.S. Senate that would repeal section 311 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT 2005) may actually limit state and local government involvement in the LNG project siting process. According to Cooper, prior to EPACT 2005, the only way state agencies could influence FERC’s LNG siting process was by intervening in the Commission’s proceeding. Now, says Cooper, state and local officials are “ingrained into the process.”
