California Utilities Commission Contemplates Evaluation Process for Long-Term LNG Procurement Arrangements
In an effort to ensure adequate natural gas supplies for the California market, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) announced yesterday that it will institute a rulemaking proceeding to consider the implementation of an evaluation process for requests by California utilities to enter into long-term LNG supply contracts. Moreover, the CPUC intends to examine the economic impact of long-term agreements on California ratepayers and whether the agreements are likely to promote system reliability.
