John Zaragoza, a member of the Oxnard, Calif., City Council, questioned in an op-ed piece why developers continue to consider Southern California as a potential LNG site in light of the recent rejection of the Cabrillo Port LNG proposal. Recognizing that NorthernStar Natural Gas’ Clearwater Port LNG proposal is a separate and distinct proposal, Zaragoza says he is “deeply concerned with its potential impacts.” Zaragoza also questioned the need for LNG projects in California since Sempra Energy’s Costa Azul LNG terminal in Mexico is nearing completion.
