In a Feb. 8 letter to the Army Corps of Engineers, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), and three of Maryland’s U.S. Representatives express opposition to AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal. The legislators raise concerns about the disposal of dredged material from the project and the potential safety risks due to Sparrows Point’s close proximity to densely populated areas.
