According to The Standard-Times, lawyers for the City of Fall River last week discovered an April 2006 letter from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management to Weaver’s Cove that appears to waive certain safety and environmental review requirements. Fall River Mayor Edward Lambert alleges that the letter should have been disclosed to the city, and also that any such waiver may be unauthorized. Lambert says the city will take legal action against the state to challenge the letter.
