Residents Comment on FEIS for Northeast Gateway LNG Proposal
Officials from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration last night heard public comments regarding the final environmental impact statement for Excelerate Energy’s proposed Northeast Gateway LNG terminal. Some attendees expressed concern that the import facility, which is planned for offshore Massachusetts, would harm the right whale population while blocking fishers’ access to the rich fishing grounds around the terminal. Excelerate’s chief operating officer noted that the company’s attempts to meet with stakeholders, particularly fishermen, were largely rejected. The Boston Globe provides local coverage.
