Local Residents Express Concern Over Toxic Waste Dumped Offshore Massachusetts

Local residents are concerned that the proposed construction of two LNG terminals for offshore Massachusetts could disturb barrels of toxic waste that were dumped in Massachusetts Bay between the 1940s and the 1960s. However, a spokesperson for Excelerate Energy LLC, one of the LNG developers, said that his company’s Northeast Gateway terminal would be “in an area that’s close but not in” the waste site. The Boston Globe provides further details.
